Someone once said that art is the projection of your own mind onto reality.

I say yes:

Art is a process of becoming, of learning to see. It goes beyond perception of the physical eye—it is filtering, disassembling, making war, love, making peace—using one's entire being. Eventually, there comes a time in the progression of that experience when vision is best served through action outside of art. That is the ultimate responsibility of the artist.

Through art, you find your voice. And by all means, continue to develop and express that voice through your media—through clay, paint, collage, stage, word, photograph. However, once you have discovered what must be said, what's worth saying—if it can be applied to the larger world or realm of experience, that is what you must do. Your awareness has awakened; let it manifest!

In those moments when you forget your lust for recognition—when your ego dissolves away, if only for a second—you have gained. For you have served a cause outside your Self.

And that, my friends, is where you will always find your greatest joy.
